EW.COM Editor-in-Chief Eric Wienck reports that the upcoming third installment of Star Wars franchise has been officially unveiled.
The film’s release date is now set for December 17, 2019.
Star Wars is the seventh film in the franchise and the first installment to have a female lead.
In the new trailer, Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) are seen meeting up with the crew of the Millennium Falcon.
The film is set on Jakku in the Outer Rim, where they are captured by the Resistance.
The next Star Wars movie will not be a direct sequel to the upcoming Star Wars Anthology film.
Instead, it will be a standalone film.

Star Trek: Discovery will arrive in 2017, Star Wars Rebels in 2019, and Star Wars The Force Awakens in 2020.
